American Society of Civil Engineers Guideline Updates

This two part webinar will address the guideline published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The first part will address the design, construction and maintenance of permeable pavement. The use of permeable pavements for stormwater management is gaining rapid acceptance across North America. While permeable pavements have been around for a long-time, poor performance is not unusual. The design of permeable pavements differ from other traditional pavement systems in that both structural and hydrologic considerations impact the system depth, one of three different infiltration approaches can be used based on site and subgrade conditions, and unique elements are included over sloped subgrades. This webinar highlights best practices for the design, construction and long-term maintenance of asphalt, concrete and interlocking concrete permeable pavements. Lessons learned from the preparation of a new ASCE Standard for the Design of Permeable Pavements are presented.

The second part of this event will address the management practices for control of erosion and sediment from construction activities. This will be an overview of a recently published Standard establishing guidelines for controlling accelerated erosion caused by human activities at construction sites. This Standard provides tools to ensure the discharge of sediment does not significantly increase at a construction site compared with preconstruction conditions.
